Apparently, the slightest rise in temperatures is enough to make me put off blogging indefinitely. I’d like to blame it on lack of time, but I think it’s more like lack of inspiration. So while my mental juices are bland, I’ve been reading a ton of books. I was going to pull myself together enough to write a couple book reviews, but I finally gave up and just started a new book. When I was in highschool, I used to keep track of the books I had read, which proves useful when you’re trying to remember the title of “that one book where…” I decided to start again this year by writing down only titles I would enjoy reading again. Two recent reads are:
- “Friendship Bread” by Darien Gee. This book is light fiction that reads like Debbie Macomber without all the sex. It wraps up neatly and whets your appetite to start your own Friendship Bread circle.
- “Little Town, Great Big Life” by Curtiss Ann Matlock. This is a lovely, charming story about small town people and unconditional life. Complete with the requisite old fashioned soda fountain and drug store.
As I watch other bloggers declaring a “summer hiatus,” I’ve been tempted to do the same. Know this–you won’t be hearing a lot from me this summer, but pop in once in a while and I’ll try and post my book discoveries.
Happy July 1st!
